"Shaista Saiyed is the Health Science and Technology (HST) Principal Consultant for the Career and Technical Education (CTE) department at the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE). In this role, Shaista provides leadership, expertise, and support within ISBE and other agencies regarding the development, establishment, and review of CTE instructional materials and resources for both state and federal grant programs. She oversees the planning, development, monitoring, and implementation of high-quality instructional programs across Illinois' CTE career clusters.
Shaista’s professional journey began in 1999 as a healthcare worker. In 2009, she transitioned into education, where she taught and managed both secondary and post-secondary health sciences programs. As an active participant in professional development, Shaista collaborated with the Illinois CTE Innovative Curriculum Fellowship, contributing to lesson planning for health science educators. Throughout her career, she earned numerous accolades, including awards for Best Instructor, CTE Allied Health Instructor, and Absenteeism % achievements.
Since 2021, Shaista has served as the CTE HST Principal Consultant at ISBE. In addition to this role, she serves as the Illinois Health Science State Lead for the National Consortium of Health Sciences (NCHSE), Illinois State Consultant for Illinois Health Occupations Students of America (IHOSA), and President of the Illinois State Society of American Medical Technologists (ILSSAMT). Shaista also contributes to the AMT Great Lakes District and AMT National Committees. She has presented at notable events, including the 2022 ILHOSA Fall Leadership Conference, 2023 ILSSAMT Continuing Education Conference, 2023 NCHSE Conference, 2023 IL Career Connections Conference, and the 2024 Illinois Association of Career and Technical Education (IACTE).
Outside of her professional endeavors, Shaista enjoys spending time with her two children, whether indoors or outdoors. As a proud mother, she believes life should be embraced fully, much like a mix of spices—vibrant, diverse, and full of flavor.
